If you’re interested in visiting any time soon, you might be wondering which UK airports fly direct to Crete.

Well, we regularly monitor flight schedules across the world in a bid to bring you the most up to date, easy to digest information and here’s the latest.

You can fly direct to Crete from the following UK airports:

Most of these flights operate in and out of Heraklion airport. The remainder operate in and out of Chania airport. See both timetables below.

Airports in Crete

As highlighted in the two tables above, the island of Crete has two main airports serving the UK.

The primary airport serving most flights is Crete Heraklion (first table) and is located around 5km east of the main city centre of Heraklion.

The second airport is Crete Chania (second table), which is located around 15km away from the city of Chania.

Which airline / holiday provider should you book with?

As illustrated in the table above, you have a wide range of airlines / holiday providers you can book with to the island of Crete.

First things first, we would usually recommend that you book a package holiday to this destination as you will often get better value than booking a flight only. Besides, the final price will be packaged together and include your flights, hotel, full baggage allowance, transfers and ATOL protection.

Second, and if you do have multiple options from your favourite airports, we would recommend undergoing individual searches on each relevant website to see for yourself which would be better when it comes to dates, flight times, hotels and indeed prices.

Ideally, you want to book directly with a reputable in house tour operator – a provider who will not only look after your flights, but the rest of your holiday too – benefiting from having everything managed by the same company without the need for a third party. Jet2holidays, easyJet holidays, TUI holidays and British Airways holidays all fit the criteria in this instance.

With the exception of British Airways website which needs some work, the others are fantastic in terms of user friendliness. Once you’ve tapped in your departure airport and destination you’ll only be presented with dates that are available for booking, which makes the process a lot easier. Once you’ve selected your preferred dates you can then compare holidays and prices on a couple of different sites knowing you’ve exhausted all convenient options!
